Our goal is to enable women and the community we serve to get from where they are to where they want to be. We do this by offering programming that is sensitive to their needs, encouraging connections and information exchange, and supporting cultural change and policy reform.
The ECC Facilitator Volunteer will offer instructions to a group of adult participants to help them develop their fundamental English conversational abilities. The course is going to be delivered virtually.
Role responsibilities:
- Keep track of individual work hours
- Assist newcomers in honing their English-language communication skills
- Determine each participant's unique learning requirements
- Assist participants in gaining self-assurance when speaking English
- Capability to instruct participants on study skills and methods
- Control of the classroom
- Coordinating, organizing, and leading the discussion or session.
- Create a friendly, relaxed, and helpful learning atmosphere that promotes interaction.
Required skills:
- English-teaching experience
- Teaching experience with adults is an asset.
- Proficient English
- Working with adult newcomers and the immigrant population provides an experience that is beneficial.
- Excellent interpersonal and personal communication abilities
- Capacity to operate with little direction
Time commitment:
Daytime, Weekend - Saturdays from 1-3 pm over Zoom
Age restriction: 18+
